Training And Support

Courier cleaning fridgeAll our overseas staff will receive comprehensive training either at one of our residential training courses or on your allocated campsite. You will be trained by experienced members of staff who have an excellent knowledge of the job and a good understanding of the on-site roles. You will also be provided with comprehensive handbooks detailing all procedures within the role you will be undertaking.

You will be supported and managed in the field by a Canvas Holidays Area Manager who will ensure that you receive all the support and assistance that you require. There is also an excellent support team on hand 24 hours a day abroad and in the UK head office. Many of the operations team have worked in varying roles overseas so we have a wealth of experience to assist you in getting the most out of your season!

In 2010 we are pleased to launch Canvas Holidays Academy, our NVQ provision which will be free to all staff in France (not Eastern France) Spain and Holland. The three types of NVQ provision are:

  • Level 2 Customer Services for Couriers and Team Leaders
  • Level 3 Customer Services (for those couriers who have previously completed Level 2 Customer Services)
  • Level 2 Team Leading for Team Leaders (a trial for 2010, we will be selecting and approaching candidates to take up this NVQ)

Canvas Academy is a fantastic opportunity to gain a national recognised transferable qualification by gathering evidence from your job role and will help you develop confidence and skills when dealing with customer service situations. NVQ qualifications take approximately three months to complete. The majority of the qualification can be completed simply by doing your job and evidencing your work, so it’s not a case of writing lots of essays! Anyone is free to apply for the qualifications however you must have started your contract by 15th June and be working for three months. Your Area Managers in conjunction with external assessors will assist you in working towards your qualification. You can sign up for this by contacting Recruitment and Welfare.

Some comments from 2009 staff include:

"The NVQ made me more aware of my behavior with customers, and developed my customer service skills."

"You can gain a qualification whilst being hands on, and you feel are achieving something worthwhile."

"Great to put on my CV."

"The NVQ guys worked around me, I was able to plan the coursework around my duties."

We also work closely with colleges and Universities as many students combine working overseas with part of the required work experience placement. During the placement we will ensure that you receive the support and assistance needed relevant to your course and provide you with our Student Information Pack. If you have any specific queries about completing work experience as part of a University or College course then please contact a member of the Recruitment and Staff Welfare team by phone on 01383 629012 or by filling in our contact form.
